Our car will pick you up at your hotel in Florence, Siena or anywhere in the area of Tuscany.
You will then be transported to experience one of the best locations that this rich region has to
offer. Travel will be along the via Chiantigiana, including rarely used trails and backroads. Then
you will arrive at a hilltop town where you will gaze upon lovely views in the proximity of wine
estates and wooded hills.
You will have the opportunity to explore castles, upon your request, some of which host highly
regarded wineries. Others can be found within the forests. There are some lovely country churches
that are within lushly wooded areas. Then, you'll be ready to discover the characteristic Piazza del
Mercato. Next, we'll take a remarkable step back in time for an exclusive visit to a 450 year old
wine production cellar. There is supervision
within the area where local wines are constantly being produced. You will be able to witness
every step in the production process, from the grapes on the vines in the fields, to the bottling
machines. It goes without saying that the tour will conclude with an extensive wine tasting of the
products you just learned about. After lunch we'll drive to Castello di Volpaia and Radda in
Chianti. Both are located in the heart of the Chianti wine production region.
During the course of your visit, you will come to understand the simple, yet precise lifestyle
of this region. You will also realize how the inhabitants nurture their agriculture with great
intensity.
On the other side of the hill lies San Gimignano,
a town of extraordinary beauty.
Many consider it the gem of Tuscany for its charming streets and Medieval towers.
Sightseeing will continue on through the Via Chiantigiana, followed by the return to your
hotel.
