The car will pick you up at the hotel
in Rome with a transfer to the tiny hill town of
San Gimignano.
This town is famous for its numerous
towers as well as having one of the most remarkable
Medieval appearances in Italy. The city
had ancient Etruscan origins and was later ruled by
the Romans. In Medieval times,
it constituted the main trading center, known in the
past centuries as the Via Francigena. It
was also the principal pilgrim route to Rome from northern
and central Europe. After the devastation
of the Black Death of 1348, San Gimignano soon came
under the protection of the city of Florence.
There was a subsequent influence of the artistic revival
in the 15th century.
You will enjoy a free visit to the attractive citadel.
From there, you'll view the famous
Medieval towers and wander the charming streets to discover
fine Tuscan treasures.
We'll then drive to Monteriggioni. Many consider it
Italy's smallest walled fortification. Its
setting and cuisine are unrivaled in Tuscany.
Here, lunch is an event, a masterpiece.
We'll then travel back to Florence.
The tour is for a party
of up to 14 people,
and includes private car transfers
and a fluent, English speaking tour-manager.
