Our guide will meet you at your hotel
to escort you to the Vatican Museum. There is nothing
in the world that compares to being led
into the ecclesiastical state for a walking tour.
Here, you will discover the art, history and religion
in this, the smallest country in the world.
This complex is comprised of the Papal Apartments of
the Medieval Apostolic Palace.
It is decorated with frescoes painted by the finest
artists during the Renaissance.
The overwhelmingly brilliant Sistine Chapel,
splendid exhibition rooms, the wonderful
Apostolic Library, and the museums are remarkable.
The Vatican Collections have been assembled over the
course of centuries due to the artistic,
dynastic and religious ambitions of the Popes.
It has now become a museum of unrivalled scope
and historical significance.
Your lecturer-guide will help you to form your own opinion
regarding the Candelabras Gallery.
It was created in 1785 as a continuation of the Pio-Clementine
Museum. Here, you can admire
the creative cartoon-like Dutch Tapestries. These fascinating
works of art are presented as a
series, and were woven in Brussels by masters attending
Raphael's School.
You will clearly understand why the Vatican Art Collections
were, and still are, the most
important in the world. Once shown the Geographical
Maps and Raphael Rooms, you will be
presented with the most glorious moment, entering the
magnificent Sistine Chapel. You will certainly
marvel at the exquisite and vivid colors, in this thoroughly
and meticulously restored Chapel
after centuries of built us dirt. It is also home to
Michelangelo's Last Judgement fresco. It is a
most overwhelmingly stunning work of art.
From here, we will take a short walk to St. Peter's
Basilica. There, you will be amazed by the
details of Michelangelo's masterpiece, Pietà.
Additionally, there are Bernini's wonderful
Baldacchino and the beautiful Tombs of the Popes.
