The car will pick you up at your hotel
in Como, Milan or in the region of Lombardy. You will be driven to Lecco, Cernobbio, Onno, Asso,
Bellaggio and Gravedona. You will discover charming natural beauty at these locations. There are
many large 16th century villas with
stunning gardens and belvederes. Baroque and Neoclassical estates share the landscape with
venerable lakefront towns. In the surrounding areas, you will notice scenic farmland, vineyards and
olive groves.
From the ancient poets Virgil and Catullus, to the contemporary Tennyson and Longfellow, all
have enthusiastically praised the lakes of Lombardy. But, as with many things of marvelous beauty,
words of description are merely words. It is impossible to do the area justice without visiting, and thus, understanding.
Lake Como is one of the most beautiful natural lakes in the north of Italy. It is approximately 28 miles
long and never more than two miles wide.
It is located in Lombardy at the foot of the mighty Alps. It is therefore, close to Switzerland and about
70 miles from Milan. Temperatures are quite comfortable from May through October. The mild climate and glorious landscape enable visitors to enjoy breathtaking vistas that
include the imposing mountains that surround the lake. It all seems to be intentionally conceived
and created for fabulous sightseeing.
Private boats and ferries glide to and fro, offering views of villas that include Villa
D'Este, Villa del Balbianello, Villa Pizzo and
Villa Carlotta.
You'll have lunch in a typical restaurant to taste the traditional recipes of the local cuisine. Unparalleled views will further enhance your experience.
