The car will pick you up from the ship at 9 AM.
You will be driven to Florence which takes
approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. The tour will begin
from the Piazza Michelangelo. From this
vantage point, you will have a fantastic panoramic view
of important points in and around Florence.
We'll then reach the Church of Santa Croce. It is a
very interesting Gothic style building and
was conceived by Arnolfo di Cambio. Its construction
was completed in the 14th century.
There are many important Italians buried here, including
Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli
and Rossini, to name a few. It also contains, what many
consider to be, the finest art collection
in Florence.
From here, we'll drive to the enchanting Cathedral of
Santa Maria del Fiore. This masterpiece
was designed and constructed by Filippo Brunelleschi
between 1420 and 1434.
Piazza della Signoria will be a short ride
from the church. It is considered to be the historic
city center of Florence.
You'll be able to have lunch* served in a typical Florentine
restaurant.
After you have appreciated the best local cuisine in
town, your driver-guide will show you one
of the most famous bridges in the world,
the Ponte Vecchio. It has existed since the 10th century,
although its original structure was
destroyed by a flood of the Arno River in 1333.
Our last stop will be at the Palazzo Pitti, the largest
and most monumental of the palaces in
Florence. It was built by Filippo Brunelleschi in 1440
for Luca Pitti. He was a powerful Florentine
banker who was jealous of the supremacy
of the Medici family.
We'll get you back to your ship at 5 PM.
The tour is for
a party of up to 8 people.
It includes private car transfers,
and a fluent, English speaking driver-guide.
From 9 to 14 people the
presence of our
